ADVISORY: NH Supreme Court to Hear Oral Arguments on Unconstitutional House Redistricting Plan Tomorrow, June 6th
Supreme Court oral arguments set for first day of candidate filing period
CONCORD, NH - The NH Supreme Court will hear oral arguments regarding the unconstitutional House redistricting plan; the same day candidate filing for those districts begins in New Hampshire.
The oral arguments in the redistricting case will take place tomorrow, Wednesday, June 6th at 9:00 AM at the New Hampshire Supreme Court, One Charles Doe Drive, Concord, NH.
Candidate filing will also begin tomorrow. A message on the Secretary of State's website states: "The filing period will proceed from June 6-15th, subject to future decisions of the court."
Petitioners in the original five cases challenging the unconstitutional House plan had asked the Court to delay the filing period for House of Representative candidates. The Court denied the request, leaving it to the discretion of the secretary of state. The Court noted that if it rules in the petitioners' favor, the filing process may have to be done again.
NOTE: Map images illustrating the various redistricting plan alternatives are available for newspaper use.
