The New Hampshire Advantage Coalition is pushing restrictive local property tax caps have been tried in other states and communities with disastrous results. These tax cap gimmicks have proven to be structurally flawed policies that have significantly eroded local services.
The tax cap gimmick would handcuff our communities to a bad fiscal policy for years to come – and provide more fodder for the conservative political machine in New Hampshire.
A tax cap gimmick could threaten or freeze investments in community services that we need and expect – including road maintenance, public safety through police and fire departments, parks, libraries, economic development and so much more.
Although proponents claim that this is a citizen’s initiative, the Manchester Union Leader and the Concord Monitor said the GOP connected lead organization New Hampshire Advantage Coalition, “reads like a Who’s Who of Republican New Hampshire operatives.” Key supporters also come from the Free State Project, which is encouraging thousands of people to move to our state and press for political changes.
We can stop the New Hampshire Advantage Coalition and the one-size-fits-all tax cap gimmick they are pushing before it hurts the vibrant communities we’ve built in New Hampshire.
